Restoring the vaginal microbiome, not disrupting it.

Outlast Bioscience develops targeted, non-hormonal solutions that restore and maintain a resilient vaginal microbiome — one scientific platform, powering products that support women's health across every stage of life.

The unmet need

Why we are building Outlast

The vaginal microbiome shapes women's health at every life stage — yet no consumer product is engineered to actively rebalance it. The numbers describe a problem hiding in plain sight.

1 in 3

women experience bacterial vaginosis (BV) in any given year.

CDC / Peebles et al.
~50%

BV recurrence within 12 months of standard antibiotic treatment.

Bradshaw et al., JID
58%

of women over 48 experience vaginal dryness — most with no microbiome-aware option.

Reckitt Intimate Health

Existing "microbiome-friendly" products are passive — they merely avoid harm. None of them actively restore, rebalance, or recover the vaginal microbiota.

Science

Understanding the vaginal ecosystem

The vagina is home to a living ecosystem — a community of microorganisms that protects, adapts, and responds throughout a woman's life. When it thrives, she thrives.

01

A guardian community

A healthy vaginal microbiota is dominated by protective Lactobacillus species — above all L. crispatus. They produce lactic acid, maintain a low pH, and form a natural barrier against pathogens.

02

Balance is fragile

Hormonal shifts, antibiotics, intimate products, sex, and life stages such as menopause can tip the ecosystem into dysbiosis — an imbalance linked to discomfort, bacterial vaginosis, recurrent infections, fertility issues, and reduced quality of life.

03

Today's answers fall short

Antibiotics clear symptoms but also clear the protectors — imbalance frequently returns. Hormonal therapies are not right for every woman. Most intimate products are, at best, passive: they avoid harm but do not restore the vaginal microbiota.

04

A new way forward

Advances in microbiome science make it possible to selectively nourish the protective species while suppressing the disruptive ones — actively guiding the ecosystem back to balance, without hormones or antibiotics.

05

Breaking the cycle

Solutions that rebuild the protective microbiota — rather than wiping it out — could break the cycle of recurrent bacterial vaginosis, reduce reliance on repeated antibiotics, and give women options that work with their biology.

06

Health that lasts a lifetime

A resilient vaginal ecosystem means more than symptom relief: everyday comfort and confidence, support for fertility and healthy pregnancies, healthier transitions through menopause, and long-term vaginal health well beyond menopause — all built on a woman's own microbiome.

The question is no longer whether the vaginal microbiome matters — it is how to restore it, precisely and durably.

Platform

A microbiome-guided innovation platform

We develop targeted, non-hormonal solutions that restore and maintain a resilient vaginal ecosystem. Built on one scientific platform, our products support beneficial bacteria to improve women's health across every stage of life.

— 01

Restore.

Support the protective vaginal microbiome in everyday intimate life, helping maintain a resilient ecosystem when it is most vulnerable to disruption.

— 02

Rebalance.

Help restore microbial balance during hormonal transitions, including menopause, when the loss of protective lactobacilli contributes to vaginal discomfort and declining vaginal health.

— 03

Recover.

Restore a healthy vaginal ecosystem following dysbiosis, offering a non-antibiotic approach for recurrent bacterial vaginosis and other microbiome-related conditions where current treatments often fail to provide lasting benefit.

One microbiome platform. A lifetime of women's health solutions.

Pipeline

Transforming science into products

From intimate wellness to clinically validated medical devices, every product is powered by the same microbiome-guided platform. Built on one proprietary scientific foundation, our pipeline restores and maintains a resilient vaginal ecosystem across multiple indications and every stage of a woman's life.

Why we're different

From symptom relief to ecosystem restoration.

For decades, women's intimate health has focused on relieving symptoms or eliminating microbes. Outlast takes a different approach — restoring the resilient vaginal ecosystem that underpins long-term health.

Instead of lubrication alone

Microbiome-guided intimate wellness

Conventional lubricants focus on comfort. Our proprietary formulation actively supports a resilient vaginal ecosystem during intimacy.

Instead of temporary moisture

Restoring balance through and beyond menopause

Most non-hormonal menopause products relieve dryness without addressing the underlying microbial changes. We help restore a healthy vaginal ecosystem during hormonal transition.

Instead of repeated antibiotics

Restoring resilience after dysbiosis

Current treatment for recurrent bacterial vaginosis often fails to provide lasting benefit because it does not rebuild the protective microbiome. Our non-antibiotic approach is designed to restore ecosystem resilience.

Instead of treating one partner

Supporting a shared ecosystem

The vaginal microbiome does not exist in isolation. We are pioneering microbiome-guided partner health to help maintain long-term vaginal health and reduce the cycle of reinoculation.

Impact

We envision a future where every woman can maintain lifelong vaginal health by restoring — not disrupting — her microbiome, without hormones or antibiotics.

From first intimacy to menopause and beyond: health that lasts, built on the ecosystem a woman already carries.

About

A science-led company building the microbiome standard for women's health

Outlast Bioscience was founded by a team of microbiome scientists, clinicians and consumer-health operators who saw the same gap from three different angles: women deserve solutions that work with their biology, not against it.

Our platform is powered by an exclusive licence to PhenoBiome's functional-microbiome technology (3,800+ reference genomes, 150+ metabolic pathways) and shaped by scientific leadership from the Karolinska Institutet. We translate that foundation into precise, non-hormonal products that restore and maintain the vaginal microbiome across every stage of a woman's life.

We are building the category standard — from everyday intimate wellness to clinically validated medical devices — under one microbiome-guided platform.

KarolinskaScientific leadership from one of the world's leading medical universities.
PhenoBiomeExclusive licence to a functional-microbiome platform in women's intimate health.
Non-hormonalPrecision prebiotic modulation — no hormones, no antibiotics.
LifelongOne platform, a portfolio spanning every stage of a woman's life.
